Courses are suitable for complete beginners and experienced children. All courses involve painting or making a project suitable for the class age group (junior-senior infants and 1st-6th class children).  Children usually work on and complete a project per week. However more complicated projects will take slightly longer to finish. Children bring home their work upon completion. No projects are repeated so every term provides children with a selection of new projects.

Diversity is Key

Courses are designed to give children the opportunity to work on a broad selection of projects.

Painting and drawing class projects may include; cartoon drawing, still life, scenery, figures and animals etc. Using pencils, charcoal, colouring pencils, markers, pastels, inks, watercolours, acrylics or oils. Nina works in different styles & mediums to encourage children to find & develop their own way of working.

Mixed media art classes include drawing & painting projects, print and pattern, craft work both two and three dimensional, clay, papier mache, collage, constructing three dimensional models, fabric work, weaving, bead work. Craft work projects are made from a wide range of materials, wood, natural materials, recycled materials, beads, polystyrene, cardboard, coloured paper, wax, etc..

Online Draw & Paint Course
Children 8 - 13 Years New Term Starts November '21

Structure & Content

Courses are delivered online via Zoom.

Students work in their preferred medium with whatever materials are available to them at home.

Drawing materials could be pencil, colour pencil, marker or charcoal. Painting materials could be any water based paint, poster, watercolour or acrylic. A4 copy paper is ok for warm up fun sketches though a heavier weight paper is preferable for painting on. Children choose gathering materials available to them.

Each week Nina will give a step-by-step demonstration where students are invited to work along with her.

Initially the class will do a fun warm up group sketch. This could be in pencil, colour pencil, marker or charcoal on A4 copy or other light paper or card.

Then starting from the initial concept, through to the finished piece. Nina will paint piece each  week working with water based paint – poster, watercolour or acrylic, on light white card, watercolour or acrylic paper.

Nina views and monitors each student’s work individually, giving personal guidance, tips and feedback as the class progresses.

Subject matter and styles are varied to include a broad mix of work. Basic drawing, composition, colour mixing and painting techniques are covered as the course develops. No projects are repeated so students can attend each term knowing there will always be fresh ideas and inspiration.

(Optional) Each week after class, if parents wish to WhatsApp Nina a photo of their child’s class work (to a private WhatsApp class group), Nina can then create a mini exhibition to be viewed at the start of the next week’s class (no names are referred to or put on children’s work).

A themed plan for homework is provided for students who wish to continue to do more drawing or painting during the week.
