Winter Workshops

Intermediate / Advanced / Masterclass Level

Join Me For A Saturday Afternoon Painting Session

These ½ Day Workshops, take place every second Saturday from February to May, in Maynooth, Co. Kildare.

Primarily they are for students who wish to focus on their own work using their own research materials. Students set their own pace and can start a new piece or bring along work in progress or both as they wish.  Advanced students work in their preferred medium using their own materials.

What’s The Plan for The Day?

Students complete some quick warm up activities before settling down to focus on their own individual work.

Nina gives in depth advice on all stages of working a piece. From choosing a subject / medium, building a composition / looking at focal points, perspective, choosing colours / colour balance, texture / tonal recession, painting techniques / using materials, finishes etc.

Homework challenges / exercises are given for students who wish to push themselves a little more. A plan for continuing with work is discussed with each student so that work develops at home between workshops.

What’s Included?

Nina provides materials for warm up activities only, as well as easels, disposable aprons, palette knives, water tubs, cloths etc. Tea / coffee / refreshments are included in the fee.

So, What Will I Need?

Students bring along all the materials they will need – their own painting kit – paints, canvas / paper, palettes, brushes etc. Students may wish to bring a camera or phone.
